§1-52. Three years.
Within three years an action -
(1) Upon a contract, obligation or liability arising out of a contract,
express or implied, except those mentioned in the preceding sections or in G.S.
1- 53(1).
NC is a "last item" State, i.e. the starting date ( accrual date) of the cause of action is on the date when a payment or charge was made,

In an action brought to recover a balance due upon a mutual, open and current account, where there have been
reciprocal demands between the parties, the cause of action accrues from the time of the latest item proved
